Read the table as two different purchases. Terra is software you own or rent for one machine. DroneDeploy is a service you rent per person.
Is DJI Terra cheaper than DroneDeploy?
Yes, on the license alone. A permanent Terra Standard license at $4,800 costs about as much as 14 months of DroneDeploy Flight & Analysis, and a yearly Terra license at $1,680 is 40% of DroneDeploy's $4,188. The gap narrows once you add the Windows workstation Terra needs, and it flips for teams where more than one person has to process or measure at the same time, because each extra Terra seat is another license and another capable PC.
What DJI Terra really costs once you add the workstation
Terra's minimum spec is not a normal office PC. DJI asks for Windows, 32 GB of RAM and an NVIDIA graphics card with at least 4 GB of memory, and large flights benefit from far more. You buy that machine, you keep its drivers current, and while it reconstructs a 3,000 image flight it is not doing CAD work for anyone.
Three other costs are easy to miss:
- Upgrading from Standard to Flagship later costs $5,300 at the same dealer, so buy the tier you will need.
- Terra processes where the PC sits. A client link or a shared map means exporting files and hosting them somewhere else.
- Terra is Windows only, and DJI says there is no Mac version planned. Mac offices need a separate machine or a cloud PC.

What DroneDeploy really costs for a team
DroneDeploy publishes only single-user prices. Flight & Analysis at $4,188 a year works out to $349 a month for one admin user with up to 3,000 images per map. The features survey firms and earthworks contractors use every week, cut and fill against a design surface and unlimited GCP mapping, sit on Advanced Flight & Analysis, which is quoted. So do the Aerial, Aerial Pro, Ground, Ground Pro and Unified team plans.
Two contract points matter before you sign. First, DroneDeploy's help center says that after you cancel, you keep basic access for 30 days and exports are disabled, so download your data before the renewal date. Second, a quoted team price is negotiated again at renewal, so the number you sign today is not guaranteed next year. Many firms keep every software renewal in contract management software so the notice window does not slip by while a crew is in the field.

What a 3-person survey team pays over 3 years
Take a small civil and survey firm with a pilot, a CAD technician and a project manager. They fly a DJI Matrice or Mavic 3 Enterprise, 6 to 8 sites a month, about 5,000 images, and deliver contours, volumes and a map the client can open.

The honest read: if one analyst processes every flight on a PC the firm already owns, Terra Standard permanent is the cheapest line on this table and it is hard to argue with. DroneDeploy costs more per person but removes the hardware and adds flight planning. The cloud plan with seats wins when two or three people need to measure at once and the client expects a link, not a folder.
Which should a DJI Enterprise team buy?
Buy DJI Terra when you fly Zenmuse LiDAR, when one person owns processing, when data must stay offline, or when you want a one-time purchase. Buy DroneDeploy when you want one app to plan flights and process, you capture interiors as well as aerial maps, and a quoted team contract fits the budget. Buy a cloud platform with seats included when your team shares the work and you want a written monthly price.
Whatever you pick, run the same flight through each option before you commit. Load the same ground control file, hold two or three points back as checkpoints, and compare checkpoint RMSE in X, Y and Z. That number, plus the three-year cost for the people who really need access, decides it.
Can I process DJI Terra flights in a cloud platform instead?
Yes, if the flight is photogrammetry. Any DJI Enterprise or consumer drone that writes GPS tags into its JPEGs, including RTK positions from a Matrice 350 RTK with a Zenmuse P1 or a Mavic 3 Enterprise RTK, can be uploaded to a cloud platform. Plan the grid in DJI Pilot 2 as you do now. Dronemapping processes those photos into an orthomosaic, DSM and DTM, volumes and contours, and it does not process LiDAR point clouds, which stay with Terra.
