1. Data we collect
- Account data: your work email address, and the name, company and team members you add to your account.
- Verification data: a one-time code we send to confirm your email address. We store only a protected form of the code and delete it after use or expiry.
- Survey data: the photos, ground control coordinates, outputs, measurements, comments and share links you create in the service. Photos may contain location data (EXIF and XMP metadata).
- Billing data: plan, billing period, invoices and billing contact. Card details are handled by our payment processor and are not stored on our servers.
- Usage and technical data: IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, the page that referred you, campaign parameters in the link you followed, and error logs.
- Communications: messages you send to [email protected] and our replies.
2. The in-browser demo
The flight check in the demo reads photo metadata inside your browser. Your photos are not uploaded to our servers. The sample site measurement runs entirely in your browser on public elevation data.
3. Why we use your data
- To create and secure your account and confirm your email address.
- To process, store, display and share your survey data as you instruct.
- To send service emails: codes, processing notifications, billing notices and important changes.
- To bill for your subscription and keep required accounting records.
- To understand which pages and features are used, so we can improve them.
- To prevent abuse, fraud and security incidents, and to comply with the law.
We do not sell personal data. We do not use your survey data to train models or to build public maps.
4. Legal bases
Where the GDPR or a similar law applies, we rely on performance of our contract with you (running the service), legitimate interests (security, product improvement, direct communication about the service you use), legal obligations (tax and accounting), and consent where it is required.
5. Who receives data
We share data only with service providers that help us run Dronemapping, such as hosting and storage, email delivery and payment processing, under contracts that limit their use of the data to our instructions. We share survey data with people you invite or send a view link to. We may disclose data where the law requires it.
6. Where data is stored
Data is stored in the United States unless your Enterprise contract sets the EU region. Where data moves across borders, we use lawful transfer mechanisms such as standard contractual clauses.
7. How long we keep data
- Account and survey data: for as long as your account is active, then deleted after the account is closed, except where you export it first.
- Unconfirmed signups: the verification code is cleared after 7 days.
- Billing records: for the period required by tax and accounting law.
- Logs: for a limited period needed for security and troubleshooting.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, object to or restrict some processing, and withdraw consent. California residents can also ask what categories of personal information we collect and how we use them. Write to [email protected] and we reply within the time the law requires. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
9. Cookies
We use cookies that are needed to keep you signed in, protect forms and remember your settings. We use privacy-friendly measurement of page visits. You can block cookies in your browser, but sign-in will not work without the necessary ones.
10. Security
We protect data with encryption in transit and at rest, access controls and logging. The security page describes these controls in more detail.
11. Children
Dronemapping is a business service and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect their data.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. When a change is significant, we tell account owners by email before it takes effect. The date at the top shows the latest version.
