Pix4Dfields alternative for crop mapping, NDVI maps and drone field surveys
Pix4Dfields costs $1,990 a year on Pix4D's own pricing page, and it is built for precision agriculture: vegetation indices, AI weed and boundary detection, prescription maps and direct export to sprayers and tractors. A Pix4Dfields alternative makes sense when you are an ag consultancy, a crop adviser or a farm group where several people need the same field maps, or when you also survey drainage, stockpiles and building pads with the same drone. DroneMapping builds field orthomosaics, NDVI and NDRE maps and zonal statistics in the cloud and shares them as a link growers open on a phone. Business is $3,588 a year with 25 seats. RGB field maps and measurements start at $588 a year.

The short version: Pix4Dfields is a specialist for the step from map to machine, with weed detection, prescription maps and sprayer export. DroneMapping is the better buy when the product you sell is the map and the analysis, you share it with many growers and colleagues, and the same drone also does terrain, drainage or stockpile work.

How Pix4Dfields prices it
Pix4Dfields price and what the subscription includes
Pix4D shows Pix4Dfields at $1,990 billed yearly, which works out to about $166 a month, against a list price of $4,188. The page also lists monthly and three-year billing with a larger saving for the longer term, and advertises the product from $111 a month. The subscription includes unlimited acreage and mapping, vegetation index generation, AI detection, prescription maps, export to tractors, spray drones and field sprayers, insurance-ready PDF crop reports, 100 free credits a year and self-paced training.
Two things the page does not say are worth asking about before you buy: how many computers or users one subscription covers, and what happens to cloud sharing after the credits run out. Get both in writing. Prices change, so confirm them on your quote.
Worked example
What a five-person ag consultancy pays
Take a crop consulting firm with five agronomists, each flying and mapping fields for about 40 growers through the season.
| What the firm needs | Pix4Dfields | DroneMapping Business |
|---|---|---|
| Five people mapping | Five subscriptions at $1,990 a year each if the license is per user, which the pricing page does not settle | 25 seats included |
| Known yearly software cost | $9,950 for five at the published yearly price | $3,588 |
| Vegetation indices and zonal statistics | Included | Included, with CSV export per zone |
| Grower sharing | PIX4Dcloud or PDF | One view link per field, each grower sees only their own fields |
| Prescription maps and sprayer export | Included | Not offered |
If the firm's deliverable is a prescription file that goes straight into a sprayer, Pix4Dfields earns its price. If the deliverable is a map, a zone table and a recommendation from the agronomist, five Pix4Dfields subscriptions cost more than twice what Business does. Check your per-user terms first, because a single shared license would change the arithmetic.
Honest fit
When Pix4Dfields is still the better choice
Keep Pix4Dfields if most of these are true:
- You run variable rate or spot spray programs and need the prescription map as a file your equipment reads.
- You want AI to find weed patches, field boundaries and obstacles without drawing them yourself.
- You work alone or with one other person, so $1,990 a year covers everyone who maps.
- You process on a desktop and want the field map built on your own computer.
- You export straight to a spray drone or tractor terminal.
The trade is a per-license price that grows with every agronomist you add. A consultancy that hands the grower a map and a zone table pays for equipment export it never uses.
Built for advisers and farm groups
A Pix4Dfields alternative for ag consultancies, co-ops and custom applicators
Most of our field buyers sell advice, not machine files. A crop consultant checks stand counts after emergence, a co-op compares trial plots across farms, a drainage contractor looks at low spots before tile goes in.
In DroneMapping you fly any mapping drone that writes geotagged JPEGs, upload from a browser and get an orthomosaic and an elevation model, and from a multispectral camera NDVI and NDRE layers with statistics per zone. Compare the same zone between two flight dates on the progress timeline, export the zone table as CSV and send the grower a link. Our agriculture drone software page covers the field workflow in detail.
The same flight gives you a terrain model for drainage and a volume for the feed pile or the manure pad. Our stockpile inventory software page shows the report.
What we do not do: weed and boundary AI, prescription maps, direct tractor or sprayer export, LiDAR and flights over 500 photos.

How to test a Pix4Dfields alternative on your last field flight
A fair test uses a field you already mapped.
- Pick a flight you trust: a recent Pix4Dfields map with the index layer your growers saw.
- Upload the original images: straight from the drone's card, with the calibration panel shots if you have them.
- Compare the index layer: the same color ramp range, and the mean value inside two or three zones you drew.
- Check the outputs you hand over: the map link, the zone table and the PDF if a client asks for one.
- Count the people: how many of your colleagues would open the map, and what that costs each way.

The demo loads a sample field, an earthworks pad and a stockpile yard. Drop your own photos in and it reads camera, altitude, ground sampling distance and estimated overlap in your browser. Your photos stay on your device.

Questions
Pix4Dfields alternative FAQ
For a consultancy or farm group where several people need the same maps, a cloud platform priced per company, such as DroneMapping Business, replaces Pix4Dfields for field maps, NDVI and NDRE layers and zone statistics. For prescription maps and sprayer export, nothing here replaces it, and Pix4Dfields stays the right tool.
Pix4D lists Pix4Dfields at $1,990 billed yearly, about $166 a month, against a $4,188 list price, and advertises it from $111 a month on longer terms. The subscription includes unlimited acreage, vegetation indices, AI detection, prescription maps and 100 free credits a year.
Yes. Any platform that processes multispectral band images can produce NDVI. DroneMapping Business builds NDVI and NDRE maps from calibrated multispectral cameras and reports mean, minimum, maximum and spread per zone. NDVI needs a near infrared band, so RGB photos give you an orthomosaic and an elevation model only.
No. DroneMapping exports the index map as a GeoTIFF and the zone table as CSV, which most farm management software imports to build a prescription. If your sprayer needs the finished file straight from the mapping tool, Pix4Dfields is the better choice.
Any drone that writes geotagged JPEGs works for RGB field maps. For NDVI and NDRE you need a multispectral camera that saves calibrated band images, including the integrated cameras on common agricultural mapping drones.
Starter includes 3 seats, Team 10 and Business 25. Seats are for people who log in and process or manage. Growers and clients open maps from a view link and do not need a seat.
