Agisoft Metashape price list at a glance
All prices come from Agisoft's online store in USD, checked in October 2026. Both editions are perpetual: you pay once and the license keeps working. The license is node-locked, which means it is activated on one computer. Floating licenses that move between machines exist, but Agisoft does not print a price for them and sends buyers to resellers or its sales address.

How much does Agisoft Metashape cost?
Agisoft Metashape costs $179 for Standard and $3,499 for Professional, each a one-time payment for one computer. There is no monthly subscription for the desktop software. Educational licenses are sold at a discount through Agisoft's educational program, and floating licenses are quoted by resellers. The optional Agisoft Cloud service is billed separately by storage and processing hours.
Metashape Standard vs Professional, which one does a drone surveyor need?
A drone surveyor needs Metashape Professional. Standard is built for 3D models of objects and scenes: it aligns photos, builds a point cloud and a textured mesh, and exports them. It does not place the result in a real coordinate system with ground control, and it does not export the georeferenced orthomosaic, DSM or DTM that a survey, earthworks or stockpile client expects. That leaves the $179 edition for artists, archaeologists photographing objects and hobby work.
A simple test before you buy: if the deliverable has coordinates on it, or someone will measure a volume from it, the answer is Professional.
Can you upgrade Metashape Standard to Professional?
Yes. Agisoft's store lets a licensed Standard user upgrade to Professional, but it does not print the upgrade price, so ask the store or a reseller for a quote. For a firm that already knows it maps sites, buying Professional directly is simpler than starting on Standard and paying twice.
Is Agisoft Metashape a one-time purchase?
Yes. Both editions are perpetual licenses paid once, not subscriptions. The catch is the version line: the license covers free updates within Metashape 2.x, and Agisoft does not promise that a future major version will be free. Budget for a possible paid upgrade every few years, the same way you budget for replacing the workstation that runs it.
What a 3-person survey team pays for Metashape Professional and DroneMapping over 3 years
Take a US survey and civil firm with a pilot, a CAD technician and a project surveyor. They fly 3,000 to 4,000 images a month, deliver orthomosaics, contours and stockpile volumes, and send clients a link instead of a file.
| Cost over 3 years | Metashape Professional, 1 license | Metashape Professional, 3 licenses | DroneMapping Team |
|---|---|---|---|
| Software | $3,499 | $10,497 | $4,464 for 10 seats |
| Who can process at the same time | One person on one computer | Three people on three computers | Everyone with a seat, in the browser |
| Workstations | One GPU workstation | Three GPU workstations | Not needed |
| Sharing maps with clients | Agisoft Cloud, $10 a month per 100 GB of storage plus processing hours | Same | View links included |
| Cut and fill against a design | Done by hand in a CAD or GIS tool | Same | Included on Team |
On those numbers Metashape Professional is the cheapest software line when one analyst does all the processing on one computer. It stops being cheapest when a second and third person need to process or measure, because each needs a license and a machine, and the client still needs a way to see the map.
What you also pay for with Metashape
- A workstation: Metashape runs on Windows, Mac and Linux, but large drone projects need plenty of RAM and a strong GPU, and processing ties the machine up for hours.
- Agisoft Cloud, if you want to process or share online: it requires a Professional license, storage costs $10 a month per 100 GB up to $500 a month for 5 TB, and processing is sold in hour packs from about $4.25 to $5 an hour.
- Staff time: Metashape gives a skilled analyst fine control, which is also why new technicians need training before their outputs are reliable.
- Paying the invoice: the online store currently takes wire transfer, ACH or SEPA only, so plan for your office to send a wire and match it against the invoice with bank reconciliation software or whatever your bookkeeper uses.
When Metashape Professional is the right purchase
Metashape Professional is a strong buy for a firm with one experienced photogrammetry analyst who wants control over every processing step, works on Mac or Linux, or processes multispectral and satellite imagery. The one-time price is hard to beat over several years if a single person does the work. If you are weighing it against a subscription desktop tool, our Pix4D vs Metashape pricing breakdown and DJI Terra vs Metashape pricing comparison run the same 3-year math.
When a cloud plan with seats costs less than Metashape
The math changes when the work is spread across people. DroneMapping turns geotagged drone photos into an orthomosaic, DSM and DTM, stockpile volumes, contours, cut and fill and a GCP accuracy report in any browser, with no workstation and 10 seats on Team for $249 a month or $1,488 a year. Clients open the map from a link without a license. We do not process LiDAR, thermal or satellite imagery, so a firm built on those should stay with Metashape.
